How Do I Control My Addictions?

Question by Spider L: how do i control my addictions?
This may seem silly, but I have an addiction to a certain soda. I recognize that this “addiction” is linked to what’s going on in my life, like dealing with rejection, failure, sadness, or just general blah, so I’m guessing this is my comfort food.

I try to sublimate with other healthful substitutions like exercise, reading, fruits, etc. But the problem is still there. It gets better for a while (I managed to quit for 3 whole months!) and then suddenly I go crazy and need it everyday. I’ve even tried to have just a little bit at a time, but I still have this compulsion. When I’m trying to cut it down, I feel like I’m holding my breath until the next can. (Don’t I sound like I need AA?)

The soda thing doesn’t seem like a big deal, except that my face breaks out and I have sleep problems that are probably worsened by the 1 – 3 sodas i consume everyday.

AND FINALLY, i suppose it could be worse, but just the same, I want to feel free. Any suggestions?
