My boyfriend seems to think I have bipolar disorder, because of the way my moods are. I have always been really high, and then really low at times…I just lost a pregnancy with twins in my fifth month, and I am having a really hard time dealing with my loss. I don’t know if it’s just postpartum depression, and trying to deal with the loss of my babies, or if it’s all of that plus a mild case of bipolar disorder mixed in. I really need to see a doctor about this, but I’m not sure if my insurance will pay much on it….Any answers will be appreciated!

There is is also a self test you can do on line. It’s not a diagnoses. It’s just to see if there is a POSSIBILITY that you have it. Only a doctor can diagnose you. Fill it in with honesty and see what it says.

Being out-of-kilter after this kind of event is normal. Depression, confusion, and sadness are a normal result, and normal people work their way out of it.
Bi-Polar people don’t, and they go out of their way to create more problems.
If you’re in the US, and worried about money, get on the horn (telephone), get out the yellow pages, and look for social and church agencies that offer help. There’s plenty. Though you don’t sound bi-polar to me, you could probably use an objective, caring friend to get back up to ground level. The United Way can probably refer you to the local Family Service Agency or some group like that. They have people there who know what you’re dealing with, and that would love to be at your side.
