Cocaine and Xanax…?
Question by jeswan928: cocaine and xanax…?
I want to make very clear that I do not use drugs of any kind so, please dont tell me not to do either, because I already know. Also, please do not tell me other people shouldnt do it either because I already know annd I am pretty sure they do to. I am a student, studying to become a social worker in family services. Drugs is probably going to be the main issue I will be dealing with. Anyhow, I need to do a essay on people who have been doing drugs for a while vs. people who have not.
Simple questions…
1. Does xanax cause anymore heath risks to person who doesnt do cocaine as often as opposed to a person who does while they are “high” (is a rookie more at risk than a pro or vise versa)?
2. How many grams of cocaine is in a $ 20 bag, $ 50 bag and an “8 ball”?
3. What is the approximate cost of an 8 ball?
4.Why is it called an 8 ball?
5. How many grams does it take for an average person to overdose? There is no research documented amout so this answer should be and approximate.
6. Are there certain symptoms a person on cocaine has right before overdose? A certain feeling different than the common feelings while high? Is there any kind of way to maybe know your about to overdose?
Reasearch teaches you many things, but “street smarts” are very important when dealing with these kinds of situations.
Please do give me your opinions. I need as close to an educated answer as possible, or someone with personal experience. Please, my grade depends on this. I greatly appreacheate you taking the time to answer these questions.
**If you are someone who has kicked a habit, I aploud you. Congradulations. and if you still have a habit, you already know. I dont need to waste my time telling you something you already know.**

1. This question is not clear to me… What I can input: the use of xanax (and other benzodiazepines) can aid heart irregularities resulting from acute cocaine intoxication. Additionally, it can be extremely dangerous if xanax and cocaine are used simultaneously because the differing drugs mask each other’s symptoms of overdose.
2. $ 20 might get you a half-gram (most likely a little less) and you could get a gram for $ 50 fairly easily. The going rate in my town is $ 30 for a half-gram and $ 60 for a gram. 8-balls will run anywhere from $ 120 – $ 200 depending on quality and geography. Most typically, I would say $ 150.
3. An “8-ball” is 3.5 grams
4. It is called an “8-ball” because 3.5 grams is roughly 1/8 of an ounce (28g) -a common weight for a dealer’s stash.
5. With the varying qualities of cocaine floating on the streets, it’s nearly impossible to suggest a one-size-fits-all approach for overdosing.
Common medical consensus suggests a lethal dose of cocaine to be 1.2 grams (lethal is defined as causing death in 50% of the population submitted).
But, I’ve (hypothethically) personally put 5 grams up my nose in a night and lived to tell the tale. I’ve also (hypothetically for example) done less than a gram of some real good stuff and felt like I was going to die. Hard to say.
6. If you feel like you maybe did too much, you definitely did. The nature of the white lady is alluring though, and one will almost always go into denial about the danger the body alerts of.
Chest pain, irregular heartbeats, feeling faint, fevered/hot, or nausea are all signs it’s time to slow down. If one has fixed dilated pupils, blood pressure and heart rate have become faint and slowed, or is losing consciousness, they may require immediate emergency assistance as these are pre-morbid signals.
*Again, with the benzodiazepines; the medical treatment for cocaine overdose is intravenous diazepam (Valium) to control heart rate and regulate breathing. A Xanax dissolved under the tongue can do a lot for someone OD’ing on coke, without a tremendous amount of collateral damage.
