7 Symptoms of Cocaine Use: Symptoms of Cocaine Use – Catch It Early
The key to determining if you or someone you love is hooked on cocaine is to be aware of the symptoms and catch it early. The problem besetting any change is the realization of the need to change. We will look at the short term symptoms and also longer term symptoms to be aware of in the cocaine users life.
The symptoms of cocaine use are obvious if you are familiar with the person, or if you are looking at that person in the mirror. One of the problems to catching cocaine use early before it does permanent damage is that many perceive it as a illness or disease, and it is not. Cocaine use is a mental desire brought on by the good feeling of the first trial hit taken.
The following indications will open your thinking to the many long term effects which can and will devastate your life. Although many people take cocaine as a pick me up to stay alert and boost energy they will find as the body gets used to the small doses that it asks for more and more.
Obvious short term symptoms will be visible such as, hyper-activeness, extremely talkative, energetic, euphoric, extended pupils, runny or red nose, unable to concentrate, sweating profusely and loss of appetite.
Large amounts of cocaine can often lead to violent and bizarre actions. Large amounts can also end up causing tremors, paranoia, vertigo, and muscle twitches. Frequent usage will lead to a drastic change in personality. The user will often become adverse to supervision or even family and friends trying to help them. They will become insensitive and will see normal activities as superficial.
Longer term symptoms include loss of weight, dehydration, diarrhea, ignoring job activities and ignoring family. Many users will become callous enough to completely alienate family and friends. They will often show a lack of personal hygiene and begin to loose their self esteem as the desire for more will overcome the reality of life.
One of the most serious physical long term symptoms, with great danger, is the probability of heart attacks and strokes. This is brought on because the initial high shoots up the blood pressure and also constricts the blood vessels, so therefore often something will blow. The constriction of blood vessels in the brain will cause long term destruction of brain cells. This usually causes of loss of memory and diminishes the memory capacity.
The major key to overcoming a cocaine habit is to catch the symptoms early, and to realize the physical impairment that will come with continued use. Not to mention the loss of family and friends caused by alienation of them through the search for the next high.
